Some of the scrolls opening in this painting are from the prophecies of Daniel, about the time of the end when the abomination of desolation will occur. This is a part of what is called Daniel's 70th week prophecy, or seventy "weeks" of years, which is a prophecy about 3 segments of time, with gaps in between, leading to the end of this age. The seventy "weeks" of years are divided into three periods of time: a seven-week period spanning forty-nine years, a sixty-two-week period spanning 434 years, and a final period of one week spanning seven years. Such landmark events as the Confirmation of the Covenant and the revealing of the antichrist during the Abomination of Desolation are revealed in the final seven year segment just ahead. What is even more intriguing to me, is the correlation between Daniel's prophecy and the time Jesus tells Peter to forgive his brother up to 70 times 7 times. This equals 490, or seventy "weeks of years" the length of time until the forgiveness of Israel.
