Biography
Anthony Aufiero born on Long Island, the artist's parents were part of the early migration to South Florida in the 70’s. The tropical climate influenced his perspectives and subject matter. In university in the northeast, he pursued both left-brain and right-brain courses, with a strong passion for the latter, which served as both an artistic outlet and an escape of the cold weather. Inspired by Van Gogh's landscapes, he started his own series. Unhappy with the results he tried incorporating natural elements into his works in order to create desired texture and dimension. Further, inspiration from Jackson Pollock's abstract style led to crafting large pieces. One day, while in an art class featuring nude models, he found himself once again frustrated with his work. In that moment, he recalled a piece by Yves Klein. This recollection prompted him to push his art further. Resulting in the creation of large abstract nude paintings that garnered acclaim from both audiences and galleries alike. Today the artist resides in Southampton and New York City with his wife, escaping as frequently as possible in search of warm water, sand and sunshine.
